Energy concessions for Queenslanders in financial emergency

The Queensland Government is committed to supporting vulnerable Queenslanders in times of need through reforms to its energy concessions.

Recent changes to the Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme (HEEAS) makes it easier for households to access support. HEEAS helps low-income households who are in short-term financial difficulty because of unexpected, emergency expenses to get back on their feet through a one off payment of up to $720 towards their energy account.

These reforms will modernise the application process for HEEAS and reduce the administrative burden for applicants. The HEEAS application form has been simplified and shortened, and is also available electronically.

Full eligibility details, including the types of emergency situations you might get help for, are available from your energy retailer. Visit the Smart Savings website for more information.
