Developing a building plan for all Queenslanders
Home owners, builders, subcontractors, licensees, industry groups and local government representatives from across Queensland have had their say on a discussion paper that proposes widespread reform of the state’s $44 billion* building and construction industry.
Feedback from face-to-face consultation sessions, online surveys and written submissions is shaping the long-term strategic direction for building and construction in Queensland. The Queensland Building Plan will guide changes to policy and legislation that will bring increased confidence to the building and construction sector, creating job opportunities and laying the foundations for growth. The plan will bring increased fairness and protection for over 200,000 people who earn a living in the building and construction industry, through a suite of reforms including security of payment for subcontractors. The reforms will also drive innovation through liveable and sustainable building design.
