Australia Day 2018

On Friday 26 January, Australia Day was celebrated by communities across Queensland through an exciting program of events. In Brisbane, locals came down to South Bank to kick back, relax and enjoy a refreshing line-up of local musical talent at River Quay, followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the Brisbane River.

Further afield, Great Australian Bites was held in Airlie Beach, Charters Towers, Longreach and Rockhampton. These free, family-friendly events featured bite-sized tasting plates showcasing Queensland produce from pop-up restaurants, and an exciting line-up of home-grown musical entertainment.

In Townsville, a Flag Raising Ceremony was held, bringing the local community together to honour our national day, and demonstrating respect for Australia’s rich Indigenous culture.
