History of the Queensland Multicultural Awards

The Queensland Multicultural Awards recognise the valuable contributions of Queenslanders who support and promote a united, harmonious and inclusive Queensland.

Since 1990, the Queensland Multicultural Awards have recognised community volunteers, groups, businesses, government agencies and media whose long-term efforts have helped all Queenslanders to participate in our economy and community.

The awards in 2018 acknowledge an overarching theme:

Building a prosperous, fair and harmonious Queensland

The awards aim to:

  • recognise the efforts and achievements of individuals, organisations, education providers, government, businesses, Ambassadors, and the media in supporting Queensland's multicultural identity
  • raise the profile of these achievements which promote multiculturalism across the state
  • encourage excellence by individuals, organisations, education providers, government, businesses, Ambassadors, and the media in promoting the benefits of multiculturalism in Queensland.
