Legacy

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games provides a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase our region to the world and provide a legacy for future generations.

The Brisbane 2032 Legacy Plan will define how we take advantage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games platform over a 10+10+ year period to drive economic, social and environmental outcomes that ensure lasting benefits before, during and after the Games.

Themes that have emerged so far:

  • Sport, Health and Social Inclusion
  • A Better Future for our Environment
  • Connecting Regionally and Globally
  • Economy, Jobs and Innovation.

Nearly 14,000 legacy ideas were shared through the Hopes and Dreams survey, stakeholder engagement, the recent Brisbane 2032 Legacy Forum and feedback on the draft vision, themes and focus areas in the Elevate 2042 consultation paper.

These ideas, gathered from people all across Australia, Oceania and beyond, have been used to help create the draft vision and themes for the Legacy Plan.

What’s next?

Feedback on the draft vision, themes and focus areas will contribute to the development of the Brisbane 2032 Legacy Plan. The Brisbane 2032 Legacy Plan will be released later in 2023  following endorsement by the Games Delivery Partners.

The Brisbane 2032 Legacy Plan will be jointly delivered by the Games Delivery Partners including the Queensland Government, the Australian Government, Brisbane City Council, Sunshine Coast Council, City of Gold Coast, Council of Mayors (SEQ), Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia and the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee.
