Goal for green

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a more sustainable Games and every Queenslander has a part to play. Brisbane 2032 is the winning podium to accelerate our state's climate ambitions, such as achieving the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 and powering Queensland with 70 per cent renewable energy by 2032.

Active measures

Brisbane 2032 is committed to strong climate action that aims to remove more carbon from the atmosphere than the Games emits. Our focus will be on minimising direct and indirect Games-related carbon emissions and encouraging everyone involved to act.

Through the Games, we are aligning global, Olympic and local legacy objectives – all of which centre on economic, social and environmental principles. 

Whether it be by accelerating a circular economy, protecting unique ecosystems, improving environmental resilience or fast-tracking the transition to renewable energy, we will achieve real benefits for Queensland, Australia and the Oceania region, and inspire action well-beyond the Games.

Ensuring the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games is at the forefront in the field of sustainability. 

Leading the way

Brisbane 2032 will shape a brighter outlook with long-term sustainability benefits that will be enjoyed by all Queenslanders before, during and after the Games. Our new and upgraded venues, villages and transport options will prioritise renewable energy, green space and smart design that represent leading environmentally sustainable building practices. New and significantly upgraded venues will target 6 Star Green Star ratings (world leadership) from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).
