    • an Australian National School Championship

Read the list of eligible championships.

If your championship is not on the list, you can contact your sporting organisation.

How to apply

Download an application form.

You can apply after you have attended the sporting championship. Each application must be signed by your parent or guardian, and participation at the championship confirmed by the relevant organisation. All applicants will receive written notification advising the outcome of their application.

Financial assistance

Financial assistance of $200 per applicant is available once every two years. This is to help cover the cost of travel and accommodation for the championship.

Applicants must use their own resources to travel to the championship, as the funding is only provided after the event. Lodging an application does not guarantee funding.

More information is available by phoning 1300 656 191.

Become an elite athlete

To be an elite athlete takes time, discipline, training and hard work. Most elite athletes start being coached in their chosen sport from a young age. You need to train and compete for many years to be successful.

To start competing and training, search for a Queensland sporting club in your area.

The Get Started program assists children and young people who can least afford to join, or may otherwise benefit from joining, a sport or recreation club. Eligible children and young people can apply online for a voucher valued up to $150, which can be presented at a Get Started sport or recreation club.
