Dental services
Free dental services
To be eligible for our free dental services you must:
- be a Queensland resident
- be aged 4 years or older
- have not yet finished Year 10*.
*If you have finished Year 10 and you or your parent, or guardian, hold a current concession card, you and any brothers or sisters under 4 years can also get free dental services.
Eligible concession card holders may also access specialist services.
Where
In most cases, you can get dental services in purpose-built fixed and mobile clinics, within school grounds. If the service is not provided at your school, your parent or guardian will need to take you to the relevant dental clinic.
When
Schools are offered services on a recall basis. The length of time between recalls varies across Queensland. A Medical History/Consent Form is issued to all eligible students. Your parent or guardian will need to fill in the form and return it quickly—you will only receive care if we receive a form from you.
Urgent dental care
Contact your nearest dental clinic if you need urgent dental care to treat damage to your teeth—for example, from playing sport, or if you have a painful toothache or a swollen face. After business hours, contact the emergency department of your nearest public hospital.
Medicare Teen Dental Plan
The Medicare Teen Dental Plan helps eligible families and young people with the cost of their yearly dental check-up.
