The Duke of Ed Award sections
Skills
This section of The Award encourages you to develop practical skills in an area of interest to you. You can either:
- continue to develop skills and knowledge in an activity of interest to you
- study a new topic of personal interest
- complete a specific project such as making a piece of furniture.
You don’t need to be part of a club—an adult with skills and experience in your chosen activity should provide you with assistance and act as your Assessor.
- Any activity you do during school counts towards The Award but you need to show proof of participation in activities within your own personal time as well.
- The same activity can be used through the different levels of The Award—you just need to show that you’re improving and building your skills at each level.
- You’re encouraged to pick 1 activity and stick to it for the duration of The Award. However, if for example, you choose a physical activity that you can’t do in winter, you can pick another activity for winter so you can still meet the requirements.
