The Duke of Ed Award levels
When you have finished your 4 sections (5 sections for Gold participants) at your chosen award level (Gold, Silver or Bronze), you will receive a certificate and award badge.
The minimum time required for each award is shown below.
Award level time commitments
The following requirements need to be met.
Volunteering, Skills and Fitness/Physical Recreation sections:
- Bronze—3 months regular participation* in each section
- Silver—6 months regular participation* in each section
- Gold—12 months regular participation* in each section
PLUS if you're a direct entrant:
- Bronze—everyone must do an extra 3 months in either Fitness/Physical Recreation, Skills or Volunteering
- Silver—if you have not completed the Bronze level, you must do an extra 6 months in either Fitness/Physical Recreation, Skills or Volunteering
- Gold—if you have not completed the Silver level, you must do an extra 6 months in either Fitness/Physical Recreation, Skills or Volunteering
Adventurous Journey
- Bronze—1 night and 2 days plus one practice journey of the same level
- Silver—2 nights and 3 days plus one practice journey of the same level
- Gold—3 nights and 4 days plus one practice journey of the same level
Residential Project
- Bronze—nil
- Silver—nil
- Gold—4 nights and; 5 days
* Regular participation means you should be committing an average of at least one hour each week or 2 hours each fortnight towards each section.
After you complete Bronze you might like to move up to Silver and after you finish Silver you might like to move up to Gold.
After you finish Gold you might like to volunteer in the program by:
- helping your local club
- mentoring other young people
- assisting in adventurous journeys
- joining your local Area Award Committee.
