About The Bridge Award
The Bridge Award is for young people aged 11 and a half to 14. If you are unable to enter The Duke of Ed Award due to special circumstances, then you can complete The Bridge Award instead.
You design your own program around the things that interest you most. There are no activities that you have to do but you need to work with your Award Coordinator, Instructors and Assessors to decide on activities for each section.
The Bridge Award can also help you get started on the bronze level of The Duke of Ed Award.
Award sections
For each award level you need to complete 4 sections:
- Fitness and physical recreation
- skills
- volunteering
- adventurous journey
How to complete your award
- Select your activities—talk to your Award Coordinator or parent for advice.
- Find your assessors—ask your Award Coordinator or State Award Office to help you find a suitable assessor for each of your activities.
- Do your activities—after your plan is approved begin your activities. You can do more than 1 section of The Bridge Award at a time.
- Fill your record book in—make sure your Assessor signs and dates your record book when you have completed each activity.
- Get your award approved—give your record book to your Award Coordinator or send it to an Area Award Committee or the State Award Office for approval.
- Receive your award—the State Award Office will send you a letter and your Award Coordinator will present you with your certificate and badge, or you can attend an award presentation, or have it sent to you.
- Start the next level—if you've finished level 1 start level 2. If you have finished level 2 and you're 14 years old, you can start the bronze level of The Duke of Ed Award.
