Distiller 'joboptions' files
Distiller joboptions files are configuration files for Acrobat Distiller. The joboption files below have been set up by Web and Publishing Services especially for PDF files to be used on the departmental internet and intranet.
To download, right click on the file, and select Save target as. When prompted to save, you may need to change the extension from '.txt' to '.joboptions'. See the instructions for use section on this page for further information.

Instructions for use
Windows users
Download these joboption files to the following location on your c:
c:/Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat x.0/Distillr/Settings
Where x is the version of Acrobat you are currently running. When prompted to save, Windows users will need to change the extension from '.txt' to '.joboptions', as the Windows operating system thinks this file should have a text file extension.
Macintosh users
Download these joboption files to the following location on your Macintosh OS9 disk
Applications: Adobe Acrobat x.0: Distiller: Settings
Where x is the version of Acrobat you are currently running
Notes:
* Use only when you have very graphics intensive documents, and need to reduce the file size further. Image quality will be low.
Use only when you need a slightly higher image quality, and can afford to compromise the file size. For example, you may need to raise the quality of a graph or illustration so that some text in that graphic will be legible.
May be needed for more detailed raster images such as maps.
NB: You can create multiple versions of a PDF file using a range of 'joboption' settings, then images can be cut an pasted (or pages replaced) from one version of the file to another. This allows you more freedom in selecting the quality of particular graphics.
