CUE Standard

Exemptions

As a general guide, all departmental/agency publications, including web sites, should be branded with the governments corporate identity.

There are existing arrangements for exemptions regarding:

  1. Specific audiences such as children and youth;
  2. Specific purposes such as maps and curricula;
  3. Campaigns with specific target audiences and a short life span such as those generated by Commonwealth or local government or other organisations, with Queensland Government agencies acting as partners to the campaign. (These cases are currently approved on an individual basis by departmental corporate identity coordinators or by Communications Services, Department of Premier and Cabinet);
  4. Collaborative initiatives with non-Queensland Government organizations;
  5. Parliament, courts and Government House;
  6. Statutory authorities; and
  7. Agency services exempt from the corporate identity, for example, emergency services such as fire, police and ambulance.

Statutory authority web sites should implement the consistent user experience, unless their customers are likely to view the organisation as not being part of government.

For the cases outlined in numbers one to five, exemptions from the consistent user experience standards are possible.  For the cases described in numbers six and seven, which are exempt from the corporate identity, all other consistent user experience standards will apply.

It is not compulsory for the CUE standard to be applied to intranet and extranets, advice is available if an agency elects to adopt the standard in these environments.

The Online Services Unit of Smart Service Queensland will have an advisory role for agencies seeking direction on proposed web developments and their integration with the Consistent user experience standard.  The Online Services Unit report to Cabinet on the level of CUE compliance across government.
