Change control
Information Standard 26 recommends agencies ensure they remain no more than three (3) minor version reviews in arrears to the currently published CUE standard. Implementation schedules will be negotiated with agencies for major version reviews.
Each new version is assigned a version number in the form of x.yy (x = major version number, yy = minor version number). For example, major version releases will be numbered 1.0, 2.0 etc, minor version reviews will be 1.03, 1.04 etc. The first release of the CUE standard was 1.0. Draft versions will be made available for consultation in the form of 2.0a.
Major and minor version definitions
The major version number is changed when modifications from the previous version of the standard are substantial, for example when a wholesale change occurs such as the overall design of the consistent user experience, navigation placement or changes to reflect new international overarching standards.
The minor version number is changed when modifications to the standard are small improvements or enhancements for example changes based on customer research and corrections. Minor changes will usually have minimum impact on agencies and the function of the consistent user experience. All changes to the CUE standard require consideration be given to the resourcing needs of smaller agencies and outline a realistic implementation schedule.
Each version release is documented below. The details of each review of the CUE standard are listed with a brief outline of the modification and/or addition.
