International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) is an association of members who seek to promote and improve the practice of public participation in relation to individuals, governments, institutions and other entities that affect the public interest in nations throughout the world. This site provides information about IAP2 as well as a public participation toolbox and spectrum.

e-thePeople
This website provides a public forum for democratic and deliberative discussion and is operated by the Democracy Project. This is a non-profit organisation aimed at creating of citizen-centric public spaces on the Internet. e-thePeople includes tools for online deliberative 'conversations', polls, petitions and state-by-state information for letter-writers on government and policy issues.

Canadian Policy Research Networks
Canadian Policy Research Networks regularly produces presentations and discussion papers on issues relevant to community engagement. Of particular interest is the Public Involvement Network.

United Kingdom

Citizen Space
Part of the UK Online website where citizens can participate and help shape government policy through consultations.

Scottish Executive
The Scottish Executive website includes online discussion forums, information about current and closed consultations and the SEconsult email alert system. This allows individuals and organisations to register and receive a weekly email containing details of all new SE consultations (including web links).

Scottish Parliament e-Petitioner service allows citizens to support a petition by adding their name and address online. Information about the subject is also provided, to put the petition in context and help citizens decide whether to sign. Citizens can also see who else has supported the petition (name and country only) or join in a discussion about it online.

Improvement and Development Agency
The knowledge section of the Improvement and Development Agency website provides a range of case studies on local government community engagement initiatives, as well as toolkits and guides. To access these resources, you need to register as a user.

DigitalGovernance.org
The DigitalGovernance.org Initiative maintains a global, virtual community of people engaged in, or are interested in e-governance applications in developing countries. It is an independent initiative focusing on the role of ICTs in building accountable and democratic governance institutions in developing countries.

International Teledemocracy Centre
The International Teledemocracy Centre (ITC) at Napier University, Scotland, is a multidisciplinary research centre exploring how information and communication technology can enhance and support the democratic decision-making process.
