Pay registration in person

To avoid a late fee, make sure you pay on or before the due date listed on your registration notice. If your payment is received after the due date, your next registration renewal date may be adjusted to allow for the late fee.

It's important that your registration remains current as it is an offence to drive an unregistered vehicle.

Some vehicles, such as heavy vehicles or passenger transport vehicles, may require a certificate of inspection to be provided before you can renew. Your registration notice will advise you if this is needed.

Pay at a customer service centre

You can pay in person at a transport and motoring customer service centre.

If you have lost your registration notice and are paying in person, you will need to provide evidence of identity such as your current driver licence.

You can pay by:

  • EFTPOS (cheque or savings account)
  • credit or debit card
  • cash
  • cheque (made out to the Department of Transport and Main Roads)
  • money order.

Payments made by card will incur a card surcharge.

Pay at Australia Post

You can pay your registration renewal in person at any Australia Post office in Queensland. You will need to take your current registration notice with you to make the payment.

You can pay by:

  • EFTPOS
  • credit or debit card
  • cash
  • cheque
  • money order.

Payments made by credit card will incur a card surcharge.

A planned payment scheme is offered through Australia Post that lets you pay in instalments before the next renewal date. Ask your Australia Post office for details.

If you pay your registration through direct debit you may not be able to pay your renewal at Australia Post.
