Keys, electricity and telephone

Information for Queensland public housing tenants.

Keys

We do not keep a spare set of keys to your home. You are given the only copies at sign-up. It’s a good idea to have a spare set of keys cut for your home and keep them in a safe place.

If you lose your keys, you must replace them at your own cost.

Electricity

You are responsible for the cost of connection and any electricity costs incurred during your tenancy.

Phone

You are responsible for the cost of connection and any phone costs incurred during your tenancy.

You must pay for the cost of having your phone re-connected or a second phone line connected to a home where a phone is already available.

What if my home has never had a phone connected before?

If you move into a home where a phone service is available, but has never been connected, we will pay for part of the connection cost. This only applies if you have to pay the new higher phone service connection fee because the phone has not previously been connected to that property.

How do I get this payment?

Please contact your nearest Housing Service Centre to organise payment.

Internet

You must pay for the cost of connection and any internet costs incurred during your tenancy.
