Help with proof of income
If you receive a Centrelink pension or allowance you can use the Income Confirmation Service to prove your assets and income.
What is the Income Confirmation Service?
It is a free service which lets us access your income and assets information directly from Centrelink for eligibility assessments and rent reviews.
Using the service means you do not need to show us proof of your Centrelink income each time your rent or eligibility is reviewed.
If you or a household member earns other income such as wages or casual earnings, you still need to show proof of this income for us to complete your review.
You can withdraw from the service any time by contacting your nearest Housing Service Centre.
How does the Income Confirmation Service work?
To use this service you must be at least 16 years old.
If you join the service, we will send your details to Centrelink electronically. Centrelink will send your income and asset details back to us. This includes the same information that appears on your Centrelink income and asset statement. It may include:
- details of your current or past payments
- any dependants
- Centrelink deductions
- income
- assets
- confirmation of your current address.
The information Centrelink sends us will be used only to assess your eligibility for housing assistance and to calculate your rent.
We may ask you information about other income if required. Once we have all the information together, we will complete the review and tell you in writing if you are eligible for housing assistance and how much your rent will be.
Joining the Income Confirmation Service
You can join the service by completing the Income Confirmation Service Consent Authority form (PDF, 25KB). The form is also available from you nearest Housing Service Centre.
Do not return the form to Centrelink. You must return it to your Housing Service Centre.
