Emergency cadet program

Emergency cadets

The Emergency Services Cadet Program offers Queensland's youth emergency service-related training to equip them for community life.

Cadets will have the opportunity to develop initiative, confidence, and leadership skills.

Besides learning valuable skills, cadets can work towards a Certificate II in Public Safety and other awards.

Joining

To become an Emergency Services Cadet, you must:

  • have started Grade 8 at high school but be younger than 16*
  • have your parents' or guardians' permission
  • be an Australian resident
  • be capable of carrying out the duties and activities of the Emergency Services Cadets (certified by your parent or guardian).

*People aged 16 years and over are not eligible to join the program, but existing cadet members may be able to continue with the cadet group until they reach 18 (depending on the group).

There are 49 cadet groups in Queensland. Read more about joining the Emergency Services Cadet Program.
