Strong winds damage Hughenden

Storm damage at Hughenden

Volunteers from the State Emergency Service (SES) responded to at least 6 requests for assistance from North Queensland residents in Hughenden on January 22, following a severe storm in the region.

Strong winds up to 170km/hour were recorded during the storm causing damage to at least three houses. One woman was transported by paramedics to Hughenden Hospital with minor injuries.

The storm left several major roads around Hughenden closed including:

  • Muttaburra Road
  • Kennedy Developmental Road
  • Flinders Highway
