Funding and incentives

User Choice

The User Choice program provides funding to registered training organisations (RTOs) to deliver training for apprentices and trainees in areas where there are skills shortages.

Apprentices or trainees and their employers select an RTO to deliver the training from a list of preferred suppliers (or 'pre-qualified suppliers').

Pre-qualified suppliers can then claim payment from the Department of Education, Training and Employment for the training they deliver.

Find out how to apply for pre-qualified supplier status.

Vocational Education and Training Disability Support Service (VDSS)

This service helps public and private RTOs support eligible students with disability.

To be eligible for assistance, you must receive funding from the Department of Education, Training and Employment. There is no charge to you or the student to use this service.

The service provides:

  • assistive technology (equipment and/or software), and training in its use for students and RTO staff
  • support personnel for students (such as Auslan interpreters or note takers)
  • assessment of student educational support needs.

The support provided is based on individual requirements and will vary.
