Rural and remote

Distance education and financial support are available to help students who live in rural and remote areas of Queensland. Families can receive allowances to help their child access education resources.

Living Away from Home Allowances Scheme

Because of geographic isolation, some students must live away from home to attend school. The Living Away from Home Allowances Scheme offers financial help for families.

Computer equipment

Isolated families with students enrolled at a school of distance education can receive funding to help cover the cost of computer equipment and internet access. The funding is provided through the school.

Student hostels assistance

Not-for-profit hostels that provide accommodation in rural areas for isolated students may be eligible for financial assistance. The money funds hostels so they can offer services to help geographically isolated children to attend school.
