Fees and benefits

All early childhood education and care services charge fees. These will vary depending on how long your child is cared for and the service provided.

Search for a service and contact them to discuss their fees.

Australian Government benefits

Child Care Benefit

You may be eligible for the Australian Government’s Child Care Benefit if your child is enrolled in one of these types of services:

  • long day care
  • family day care
  • before or after school care
  • vacation care
  • some occasional or in-home care.

Child Care Rebate

You may be eligible for the Australian Government’s Child Care Rebate even if your income is too high for the Child Care Benefit.

Jobs, Education and Training Child Care Fee Assistance

Jobs, Education and Training (JET) Child Care Fee Assistance provides extra help if you are a parent on an income support payment and looking for work, studying or starting a job.

Queensland Government benefits

Health Care Card subsidy

If you or your child holds a current Australian Government Health Care Card you are eligible for low or no-cost kindy.

The subsidy is provided to the service provider to reduce expenses for eligible parents (your provider must be an ‘approved kindergarten program provider’).

Foster families with a Health Care Card may also claim the subsidy.

Multiple births subsidy

If you have 3 or more children, of the same age, enrolled in the same year, you are eligible for low or no-cost kindy when using approved kindergarten program providers.

The subsidy is provided to the service provider to reduce your fees.

Differences between approved and registered care

For the purposes of receiving Australian Government childcare payments there is a distinction between approved and registered care.

You should always contact your provider to confirm their status.
