User Choice funding

The User Choice program addresses skills needs by making government funding available to registered training organisations (RTOs) to deliver training for particular qualifications to eligible apprentices and trainees.

Instead of paying for the full cost of training, apprentices or trainees and their employers may only need to pay a small amount.

Read more about User Choice.

How User Choice works

Apprentices or trainees and their employers can select a preferred RTO to deliver training at a reduced cost from a list of preferred suppliers (or 'pre-qualified suppliers').

Pre-qualified suppliers can then claim payment from the Department of Education, Training and Employment for the training they deliver.

Read about how to apply for pre-qualified supplier status.

Check if User Choice funding is available

Check if the apprenticeship or traineeship you are interested in has any User Choice funding to help cover the cost of training. You can also check which registered training organisations (RTOs) are preferred suppliers delivering the funded training.
