Funding and incentives
Federal government funding and incentives
Incentives have been introduced to help employers, particularly where the apprenticeship or traineeship is in an area experiencing a skills shortage.
These incentives include:
- start and finish incentive payments
- payments for employers that hire apprentices or trainees over the age of 25
- help for employers of apprentices or trainees with disability
- help for employers of school-based apprentices or trainees.
Contact your local Australian Apprenticeships Centre or phone 13 38 73 to find out which incentives you are eligible for.
Disabled Australian Apprentice Wage Support
The Disabled Australian Apprentice Wage Support program is available if you employ eligible apprentices with a disability or employ an apprentice who has become disabled.
Indigenous Wage Subsidy
The Indigenous Wage Subsidy is an incentive paid to employers who employ eligible Indigenous Australians on an ongoing basis.
State government funding and incentives
User Choice
User Choice funding is a government initiative to provide training for apprentices and trainees at a reduced cost.
You have the choice of selecting a government-funded training organisation to deliver training or you can pay for training to be delivered by another training organisation.
The Queensland Training Information Service provides more information on these funded registered training organisations (RTOs). RTOs are also referred to as 'preferred suppliers' on this site.
Construction Skills Queensland
Construction Skills Queensland can help you access funding if you want to employ an apprentice or trainee in the construction industry.
