Completing your apprenticeship or traineeship
All apprenticeships and traineeships in Queensland are competency-based. This means you progress through them as you attain skills and knowledge rather than studying for a set amount of time.
The amount of time you train isn’t a factor so it is up to you how quickly you finish. When it is agreed that you have completed all the requirements of your training plan, you’ve finished!
The completion process
When you, your employer and your supervising registered training organisation (SRTO) agree that all competencies outlined in the training plan have been achieved, the following must take place:
- You and your employer must promptly sign a completion agreement form noting this agreement.
- The signing of this notice does not end the apprenticeship or traineeship.
- Your employer will then send the completion agreement to your SRTO in a timely manner.
- Your SRTO will then issue you with a qualification and list of competencies achieved.
- Within 14 days of issuing the qualification, your SRTO will then advise the Department of Education, Training and Employment of this event and we will issue you with a certificate of completion.
