Arts

The department, through Arts Queensland, has a significant role in facilitating a strong and diverse arts and cultural sector in the state.

Arts Queensland assists artists and arts companies to take their work to audiences across Australia and the world. It supports national and international artists to visit Queensland at events and festivals from Brisbane to the Torres Strait.

Arts Queensland does this by being an advocate for the arts and giving funding support to festivals, arts companies, public art projects and individual artists. It manages major arts infrastructure including the Cultural Centre, South Bank, home to the state’s leading cultural institutions, the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts and Centre of Contemporary Arts Cairns. It also funds Queensland’s major performing arts companies.
