This includes developing a revised and updated Strategic Framework for Disaster Information and Referral Services, endorsed by the State Disaster Management Group, and engagement with key agencies.

These preparations will ensure Smart Service is ready to handle after-hours demands for the SES Hotline.

Smart Service is also working with the Queensland Police Service to support the Red Cross Missing Persons Line.

Critical role

Smart Service plays a critical role during times of disaster by:

  • delivering the SES 132 500 Hotline on behalf of the Department of Community Safety.
  • establishing community recovery hotlines to provide affected Queenslanders with integrated and comprehensive support and critical information.
  • managing calls and system support for the Premier’s donation fund.
  • coordinating online information to ensure our Queensland Government website offers extensive and useful information for people affected by disasters.
