Sports and recreation funding
The Australian Government and the Queensland Government, as well as local councils in Queensland, provide funding to support sport and recreation service providers, such as local clubs, with encouraging people of all abilities to get involved in sport in their communities.
Funding for sport and recreation service providers
- The Australian Sports Commission provides funding on behalf of the Australian Government to National Sporting Organisations for people with a Disability (NSODs). Information about eligibility criteria, as well as applying for recognition as an NSOD, is available on the Australian Sports Commission website.
- The Queensland Government's Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion Program provides funding for activities that encourage greater participation, education and training and volunteer development and recruitment to increase access to sport and active recreation in the community. There are different funding rounds. For more information, call 1300 656 191. You can also find out about other sport and recreation funding programs offered by the Queensland Government. The Queensland Government also provides funding to major sport and recreation bodies for people with a disability.
- Local councils also provide funding to sport and recreation providers to help them with making their sport more inclusive. You can use the Queensland Local Government Directory to contact your local council to find out about funding that may be available. There is also a Council email list that you may find helpful.
