How can I get involved in social sport?
If you know what sport you are interested in, you can:
- contact a relevant state organisation for information about programs and services that may be offered in your area. QSport, the peak body for organised and affiliated sport in Queensland, has a list of member sporting organisations that represent different sporting activities in Queensland.
- use the Australian Government's Play for life club finder to search for a sports club near you, and contact them to find out more about programs they offer.
Who can I contact about disability sport and recreation?
The following organisations specialise in providing sport and recreation services for people with a disability in Queensland:
- Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association provides information about sports, recreation and fitness programs for people with a range of disabilities. You can call Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association on (07) 3253 3333, email mailbox@sportingwheelies.org.au or visit the Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association website, which includes contact details for regional offices.
- Life Stream Foundation provides opportunities for people with an intellectual disability to participate in sport and recreation. You can call Life Stream Foundation's Brisbane office on (07) 3394 4399. Contact details for regional offices are available on the Life Stream Foundation website.
- Special Olympics Queensland supports children and adults with an intellectual disability, providing a range of training and competitive programs for various team and individual sports. Call (07) 3420 5761.
- Deaf Sports and Recreation Queensland (DSRQ) is the peak sports and recreation body in Queensland for athletes who are Deaf or have a hearing impairment. You can contact DSRQ on dsrq@dsrq.org.au or visit the DSRQ website for more information about their services.

- Riding for the Disabled (RDA) provides sporting and therapeutic equestrian programs for people with a disability and volunteers in centres across Queensland. - Sailability Queensland provides sailing opportunities for people with a disability. Contact details for clubs around the state are available on the Sailability Queensland website.
