Getting involved in the arts

The arts can be used to express emotions, to demonstrate a particular message, or for entertainment and fun.

If you wish to be involved in the arts, contact your local arts organisation to find out about programs and services in your area. You can search for organisations in the Yellow Pages or by contacting your local council.

Where to start

Arts Access Australia is a national body that works with other organisations across Australia to help people with disability access and participate in the arts.

In Queensland, Access Arts can connect you with local arts groups in your area and provide:

  • workshops
  • professional development programs
  • advice about venue accessibility and disability awareness training.

Visit Access Arts, contact them by email info@accessarts.org.au or phone (07) 3844 5897.
