Arts grants

Arts grants are available through government and non-government organisations to help artists and community organisations progress their projects.

Individual grants

If you are a professional or emerging artist, you may be interested in the following individual grants information:

  • The Australian Council for the Arts distributes and manages arts grants throughout the country in the areas of dance, literature, music, theatre, media and visual arts. Use the grants fast finder to find grants relevant to your particular area of interest.
  • Arts Queensland provides Queensland-specific grants and offers funding for professional arts development, exhibitions, touring and programs that develop arts and culture throughout the state. Find out about funding for individual artists by visiting the Arts Queensland funding web pages.
  • You can also search the Queensland Government's grant database, which includes a section for Queensland artists or cultural workers.

Other grants include:

  • the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, which supports individual artists with up to $7000 for professional development, primarily through overseas opportunities
  • JASON—a postgraduate scholarship database for Australians wishing to pursue postgraduate studies
  • the Sidney Myer Fund Small Grants Program, which builds the capacity of the individual artist to access training, development and mentoring.
