Arts grants
Arts grants are available through government and non-government organisations to help artists and community organisations progress their projects.
Individual grants
If you are a professional or emerging artist, you may be interested in the following individual grants information:
- The Australian Council for the Arts distributes and manages arts grants throughout the country in the areas of dance, literature, music, theatre, media and visual arts. Use the grants fast finder to find grants relevant to your particular area of interest.
- Arts Queensland provides Queensland-specific grants and offers funding for professional arts development, exhibitions, touring and programs that develop arts and culture throughout the state. Find out about funding for individual artists by visiting the Arts Queensland funding web pages.
- You can also search the Queensland Government's grant database, which includes a section for Queensland artists or cultural workers.
Other grants include:
- the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, which supports individual artists with up to $7000 for professional development, primarily through overseas opportunities
- JASON—a postgraduate scholarship database for Australians wishing to pursue postgraduate studies
- the Sidney Myer Fund Small Grants Program, which builds the capacity of the individual artist to access training, development and mentoring.
Community arts grants
If you are a member of an arts organisation or community group, the following information may help you get a community project off the ground:
- search the Parliamentary Library of Australia and GrantsLINK databases to find government grants available in your area
- the Gambling Community Benefit Fund provides the following regional grants:
- Reef Hotel Casino Community Benefit Fund—far north Queensland
- Breakwater Island Casino Community Benefit Fund—north Queensland
- Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund—Boulia, Winton and Isaac regions and southern Queensland.
- the Ian Potter Foundation helps organisations develop ideas and programs that contribute to a healthy, vibrant and progressive nation
- the Sidney Myer Fund Large Grants Program supports capacity building and new work in the Arts and Humanities fields
- the Queensland Community Foundation provides grants that support capacity building activities among charitable and not-for-profit organisations. The focus of the grant varies from year to year.
