emergency REDiPlan—prepare for the storm season
You can prepare for the storm season and other emergencies this summer by taking 4 simple steps:
- Be informed
- Make a plan
- Get an emergency kit
- Know your neighbours.
You can use this advice to prepare for all emergencies, including severe weather events like storms and flooding, bushfires and personal crises.
More information can be found in the emergency REDiPlan booklet, which has been developed for people with a disability and their families and carers to help with preparing for emergencies.
You can use the step-by-step approach to:
- establish or strengthen your support network
- be informed of hazards, local support and emergency contacts
- identify your specific needs in an emergency and develop your personal emergency plan
- decide on appropriate items for your personal emergency kit and evacuation kit.
A Queensland version of the plan has been developed in partnership with Emergency Management Queensland and the Australian Red Cross.
The emergency REDiPlan is available in the following formats:
Copies of the booklet are also available at local libraries in Queensland.
