Resilient Places Project micro-grants

Posted 23 January 2012

Mental health micro-grants are available to assist organisations with supporting events and activities that build resilience and promote social and emotional wellbeing in communities affected by natural disasters.

Funding of up to $5000 is available as part of the micro-grants program, which is being administered by Queensland Alliance for Mental Health Inc., as part of the Resilient Places Project.

The micro-grants are intended to support local ownership, and to build on the assets and strengths of communities in 17 local government areas throughout Queensland that have been affected by natural disasters.

Organisations may be eligible to receive the funding towards a range of events and activities, such as:

  • community events and festivals
  • sport, recreation, health and wellbeing projects
  • community forums and leadership groups to build emotional health and wellbeing
  • community arts and cultural projects.

Successful organisations may also allocate the funding towards initiatives that focus on:

  • setting up support networks between vulnerable groups and the broader community
  • informing and involving isolated community members with supports that improve their mental health and wellbeing.
