Finding out your child has a disability

My child has a disability: what now?

Whether your child was born with a disability or acquired it, your reaction to the news that your child has a disability is yours alone.

You may react in a different way to your partner, family or support network. There's no right or wrong way to feel. You may experience some profound emotions—relief, shock, anger, grief, loss, guilt.

This guide provides advice on where to start and what to do in those early days after receiving the news that your child has a disability.
