Support at school

Education Queensland offers a range of support services for students with disability. These include:

• specialist staff
  
• learning and disability support
• the Education Adjustment Program
• statewide services for students with disability, including:
  • the Disability Services Support Unit
  • the Paediatric Low Vision Clinic
  • Orientation and Mobility services
  • Alternative Format Library Services
  • DSSU Loans Service for loan of specialised resources and equipment.

Your role at the school

Research shows kids respond better at school when their parents are involved.

You can support your child by getting involved. You can, for example:

• volunteer to help:
  • in the tuckshop
  • in the classroom (e.g. reading)
  • on excursions
  • with fundraising efforts
• attend school functions (e.g. parent-teacher information nights and social activities)
• go to Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association meetings.

By being involved in your child's school you find out what's going on in the school community, have a chance to meet other parents and share experiences.
