How to be a Companion Card affiliate

Becoming an affiliate of the national Companion Card scheme is one way of encouraging greater participation at community events, sporting competitions, movies, concerts and the like by people with a disability who rely on someone to help them most (or all) of the time.

How it works

When a Companion Card holder presents their card and buys a ticket to an event or activity from an affiliated business, a second ticket is issued at no additional cost, for the carer or companion. Booking fees are also waived for the 'companion' ticket.

Business benefits of affiliation

Choosing to affiliate with the Companion Card program:

  • provides a simple, consistent and reliable method of identifying people with a disability who require attendant care support to participate in activities and visit venues
  • assists businesses and organisations to meet some obligations under anti-discrimination laws
  • taps into a new source of business, potentially increasing your customer base and encouraging repeat business
  • confirms a commitment to social inclusion and community access for people with a disability.

Queensland businesses are encouraged to join this national scheme. Find out more.
