Getting ready for the NDIS
People with disability, their families and carers can learn more about the NDIS and make the most of the opportunities it will bring.
Information sessions, meetings, workshops, home visits, phone support and online resources are available to help people prepare for the start of the NDIS in Queensland. Through the Participant Readiness initiative, 10 organisations are currently funded to deliver these activities until June 2016. From 1 July 2016 an additional provider, AMPARO, will be helping people with disability and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds access this initiative.

People living with psychosocial disability, their families and carers
Connections provides phone support, online information, training and resources for mental health providers to help them deliver workshops for their clients. People who are deaf or hard of hearing
Deaf Services Queensland provides workshops supported by video relay and machine-readable formats, face-to-face help from trained peers, an Auslan interpreted DVD and video conferences across Queensland.

Synapse will use community radio, print media and local community networks and offer yarn ups, art groups, and face-to-face meetings to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders with disability.
