Domestic and family violence: getting help

Counselling, support and advice

DVConnect Womensline is a statewide 24 hour service providing confidential advice, counselling and referral to crisis accommodation for women affected by domestic violence. Phone 1800 811 811 (this number will not appear on your phone bill).

DVConnect Mensline is a statewide service (9am to midnight, 7 days) supporting men affected by domestic violence. Phone 1800 600 636.

1800RESPECT is a national 24 hour service providing crisis and trauma counselling services to people affected by sexual assault, domestic violence or family violence. Phone 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) or talk to a counsellor online.

Kids Help Line offers 24 hour information, counselling and support to children and young people. Phone 1800 551 800.

Immigrant Women's Support Service helps women from non–English speaking backgrounds who are affected by domestic and family violence and sexual assault. Phone (07) 3846 3490.

Lifeline offers a 24 hour phone counselling service. Phone 13 11 14.

Regional domestic and family violence services

Regional domestic and family violence services provide a range of services, including referral, counselling and support to people affected by domestic and family violence. Many also have information and programs available for people who use domestic and family violence in relationships.
