'Declared' disasters

Based on:

  • the extent to which an emergency event impacts on the community, and
  • the extent of the damage caused,

the Premier or Minister may declare the event to be a disaster.

Once an emergency event has become a 'declared' disaster, grant schemes and other assistance programs may be activated.

If you are in an emergency situation and a disaster has not been declared, you can still find immediate help available to you.
