Activities in remote areas
Queensland Police Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYCs)
Find sport and recreational activities in Queensland’s remote Indigenous communities by contacting:
- a PCYC Indigenous Community Sports and Recreation Officer closest to you

- a Cape York PCYC.
Hoop Dreaming
Hoop Dreaming is a basketball program based in Cairns. It helps Indigenous youth 12-18 years of age with healthy and active events.
Womensport Queensland
Palm Island
Womensport Queensland and the Cathy Freeman Foundation help to deliver netball games and clinics for school-aged children on Palm Island.
Mornington Island
Womensport Queensland and Softball Queensland help females on Mornington Island to learn how to play softball, and organise and run games.
Activities around Brisbane
Kurbingui
Kurbingui based in Brisbane provides young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with positive and healthy activities, including touch football and camps.
Black Diamonds
The Black Diamonds program offers activities and programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including the Stylin' Up festival.
North West Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Association
North West Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Association runs regular sports events and activities in Brisbane's north-west suburbs. Activities include rock climbing, touch football, high-low ropes, fishing and music.
Traditional Indigenous Games
Yulunga: Traditional Indigenous Games is a selection of games and activities from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The games provide the chance for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about Australia’s Indigenous culture while having fun and being active.
