Starting your own business

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) provides information on record keeping, reporting, GST, income tax as well as advice on tax issues that affect your new business. They also have a guide for Indigenous small business owners in Australia

The Business Toolkit for Indigenous Women helps inform Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women on how to start and run their own business while balancing family, community and the demands of their business.

Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) can help you start your own small to medium sized business through it’s Business Development and Assistance Program. IBA can help you with finance, share expert advice and help you develop you business and marketing plans.

The Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations provides training courses and support services to help you register your corporation. They can also help managers and directors understand their roles, responsibilities and other corporate governance rules.

The Queensland Government provides a range of resources, services, tools and support to help you to start, run and grow your business.
