Indigenous awards

The NAIDOC Awards recognise the contributions Indigenous Australians from a number of fields (including sport, art, apprenticeships) make to improving the lives of other Indigenous people.

The Deadly Awards showcase the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples both locally and nationally. There are awards for music, sport, the arts and the community.

Arts

The A V Myer Indigenous Award for Exceptional Talent recognises outstanding emerging talent in the screen arts and broadcast sector. Held at the end of each year, the awards are run by the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

The Red Ochre Award recognises the outstanding contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Indigenous art in Australia.

The Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award recognises the contribution of Indigenous artists working in both traditional and contemporary media, and the quality and diversity of art produced in Australia.

Music

The National Indigenous Music Awards is Australia’s most prominent Indigenous music awards event. Held in the Northern Territory, it celebrates the achievements and milestones in Indigenous music production.

Health

The Excellence in Indigenous Health Awards recognises the hard work and commitment from service providers to make a difference to the health of people in Indigenous communities.

Environment

As part of the National Landcare Awards, the Leighton Holdings Indigenous Award recognises an outstanding Indigenous community group or person who is working to protect, enhance or sustain the land on behalf of their community.

Business and leadership

The Indigenous Business Award celebrates the diversity in business across Australia and Indigenous businesses and individuals who have achieved success in their field.

The Future Leaders Indigenous Awards recognise and reward young Indigenous Australians who have shown strong leadership potential through their involvement in the community or the environment.

The Indigenous Governance Awards celebrate and promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples effectively making and implementing decisions to improve their communities, lives and futures.
