A focus on public infrastructure
Despite these difficult economic times, Queenslanders can be confident about our State's future, because the Government’s $18 billion building program is working.
Queensland is building more infrastructure per person than any other state.
The building program is protecting 127,000 Queensland jobs, stimulating the economy and helping to retain skilled labour, particularly in our State’s regional centres.
In addition to protecting jobs, the building program is delivering new infrastructure for Queensland's future, including:
- $7.307 billion for roads and other transport infrastructure
- $1.296 billion for health infrastructure
- $1.837 billion for education and training infrastructure including new schools and kindergartens
- $1.447 billion for additional social housing and improvements to the amenities of existing dwellings
- $3.206 billion for the electricity network to secure a reliable supply for a growing population
- $1.122 billion in water infrastructure including the construction of the Wyaralong Dam.
