2011 Queensland Week sponsorship program events

Queensland Week events sponsored as part of the 2011 sponsorship program were:

Queensland Week Showcase of Local Arts and All Things Creative

  • Hervey Bay Council for the Arts
  • Sunday 5 June 2011

The free festival included a showcase of local bands, locally made arts and crafts, wine, liqueurs, cheese and other local produce.

The Curry Feast

  • Cloncurry Shire Council
  • Saturday 4 June 2011

The community event to celebrated what Cloncurry and its surrounding areas have to offer and included a barbeque with local produce, citizenship ceremony, performances from a local Indigenous dance group, local bush poets and unique Queensland activities.

Evening Light

  • Barcaldine Regional Council
  • Saturday 4–Sunday 12 June 2011

The week long project including lantern making, bush poetry and speaking workshops, culminating in a lantern parade, poetry readings, community food festival and musical evening.

Charters Towers Queensland Week Street Party

  • Charters Towers Regional Council
  • Saturday 4 June 2011

The street party featured entertainers, old-fashioned Queensland foods, a quiz on Queensland icons, a bake-off using Queensland produce and a pumpkin scone competition.

Woodgate Beach Queensland Week Celebrations

  • Woodgate Beach Tourism Association
  • Monday 6–Monday 13 June 2011

The week-long celebration included a showcase of local produce, a talent quest, guided bus tours, guided national park walks, bowls and tennis tournaments, a photo competition and exhibition, markets and a family fun day on the beach.

Queensland Week Sports Day

  • Boulia Shire Council
  • Saturday 11 June 2011

The community multi-sports day featured touch football and cricket competitions. Other activities included a banner-designing competition, a photo competition, a drawing competition, a barbeque dinner and entertainment.

Past, Present and Future of Queensland

  • Brisbane Women’s Club
  • Wednesday 8–Sunday 12 June 2011

This five day program included a series of Queensland themed lectures, local produce markets, fashion parades showcasing emerging designers and cooking classes.
