Queensland Week Sponsorship Program

The Queensland Week Sponsorship Program encourages Queenslanders to celebrate Queensland Week in a way that reflects the unique culture, heritage and aspirations of their own community.

Organisations were invited to apply for sponsorship of up to $10,000 (exclusive of GST) for events celebrating Queensland Week from 4 to 12 June 2016.

A total of 15 events will receive funding:

Behind Queensland’s Words: A Queensland Week Celebration
(Noosa Library Service)

Where: Noosaville Library
When: Saturday 11 June 2016

A writers’ festival and book fair including Queensland themed competitions, presentations, displays, storytelling and dress ups.

Cunnamulla Celebrating our Great State
(Paroo Shire Council)

Where: John Kerr Park, Cunnamulla
When: Saturday 4 June 2016

Community sporting event including touch football, netball and fitness challenges, children’s activities, BBQ and live concert.

Dalby’s Queensland Week The State of the Nation Trivia Night

Where: Mary’s Commercial Hotel, Dalby

A trivia night showcasing a Queensland inspired menu and questions about Queensland's history, heritage and culture.

A public celebration of the diverse cultures that call Queensland home through the delivery of an official citizenship ceremony, a range of international music, performances, markets and food stalls.

Jandowae Timbertown Festival Celebrates Queensland Week

Where: Jandowae Showgrounds
When: Friday 10 to Sunday 12 June 2016

A free event consisting of market stalls, grand parade, rodeo and barrel racing, competitions, fireworks, local talent showcase, bush poetry, sports, live entertainment and various wood themed activities.

Logan Unites 4 Queensland Week

Where: Harmony on Carmody Café, Logan Central
When: Friday 10 June 2016

Family fun day to showcase the diversity of the Logan community, including art and talent displays, entertainment for all ages. The event will also include a free Queensland-style barbeque, live music, hip hop performances and free children’s activities.

A Queensland themed community celebration including a race, market stalls, fireworks, local produce, wildlife shows, outdoor activities and a variety of musical entertainment.

Queensland Week Family Fun and Fitness Expo
(Burdekin Shire Council)

Where: Anzac Park, Ayr
When: Sunday 5 June 2016

A bush festival celebrating the history and lifestyle of Queensland with bush craft demonstrations and free entertainment including Queensland celebrity performances, sporting and recreational group demonstrations, activities, rides, displays, market stalls and a variety of Queensland themed challenges.

A family fun day consisting of a community breakfast, activities on the rail trail and a showcase of local produce and music, including a songwriter’s award and live concert.

Queensland Week Farm to Plate Dinner
(Mackay Regional Council and Greater Whitsunday Food Network)

Where: Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre and local farms
When: Thursday 9 June 2016

A celebration of local produce from the greater Whitsundays culminating in a dinner prepared by respected chefs from the region. Lead up activities include farmers markets and cooking workshops.

Queensland Week Paddock to Plate and Outback Markets

Where: McIntyre Park, Julia Creek
When: Saturday 4 June 2016

A luncheon of red claw and beef from the region including presentations of the produce. The event will also include market stalls, live entertainment, rides and activities for all ages.

Sapphires Shine for Queensland Week

Where: Miners Common Museum grounds, Rubyvale

Free community celebration of the state gem including competitions, activities, quizzes, entertainment and local produce. A permanent mural will be created to commemorate Queensland Week.

A trivia night and dinner featuring local produce, plus a movie for children with Queensland themed activities and decorations.
