Australia Day

Australia Day is on 26 January and is an official public holiday throughout Australia. It is marked by the Order of Australia and the Australian of the Year Awards, and a variety of celebrations across the country.

Events cancelled due to weather

Unfortunately, some events have been cancelled due to wet weather. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The following events have been cancelled:

  • 2012 Australia Day Festival

  • 2012 AusSounds Australia Day Concert
    Thursday 26 January 2012, 5pm to 7.30pm
    The Parklands, South Bank, Brisbane

  • 2012 Australia Day Multi-Faith Ceremony
    Thursday 26 January 2012, 10am to 10.45am
    The Parklands, South Bank, Brisbane

  • 2012 Australia Day Flag-Raising Ceremony
    Thursday 26 January 2012, 11am to 12pm
    The Parklands, South Bank, Brisbane

However, Australia Day is still being celebrated in 2012 through events like:

2012 Australia Day Lunch

Wednesday 25 January 2012
12.15pm to 2.30pm

Plaza Ballroom, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Bank

The lunch is Queensland's first major corporate event for 2012 and is the perfect opportunity for the business community to come together and celebrate what's great about Australia.

Enjoy live entertainment, the best of Queensland wine and produce, lucky door prizes, a keynote address by Peter FitzSimons and the announcement of the 2012 Australia Post Legends.

2012 Australia Day Ambassador Program

2012 Australia Day in the Office

We encourage you to celebrate our national day with work colleagues on Wednesday 25 January 2012. You could hold an Australia Day morning tea, have a BBQ lunch or simply decorate your office with an Australia Day theme.
